More back roads. As usual, my measure of day quality holds up: the correlation between my happiness and the number of one lane bridges I cross.

I hate midwest winters for 2 reasons, the never ending overcast sky and the soul sucking cold of humid cold air just suck.
Looks fun though. I wish we had more back roads around me. I’d be hard pressed to even find a dirt road within 2 hours of me.

I can’t argue with that critique of our winters . My family is gradually migrating from Indiana to Florida at retirement, and it’s tempting to join them, but I’d rather do Tennessee or one of the Carolinas.
I also have to drive nearly 2 hours to find any interesting roads, so that’s why I end up spending the occasional weekend closer to the fun places. Bloomington often, or this week Shakamak state park, which is really out in the boondocks.

Tennessee always seemed like a nice medium...not Florida hot and not midwest cold. My preferred location would be southern Colorado/northern Arizona though. I still love winter and snow so I don’t know that I’d ever move somewhere there wasn’t any around ever.

Flagstaff is great in summer. But, oh, do they get snow.
My pick is Sedona. We took an FJ over there in November... A bit of snow, great scener y.

I like snow, so that’s not an issue for me. For a longtime my “if I could live anywhere” place has been Durango, Colorado, Flagstaff is a close second.
